Newberry County deputies searching for armed robbery suspect
Newberry County sheriff’s deputies are requesting the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery that occurred at a Peak-area pharmacy Friday afternoon.
Sheriff Lee Foster said deputies were dispatched to Peak Pharmacy, located at 22 River St., in reference to an armed robbery just after 12 p.m. Deputies learned that a white, male suspect entered the pharmacy and robbed the location at gunpoint.
Foster said the suspect is described as standing 6-foot tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has reddish-brown hair and appeared to be between 40 to 50 years old. He was wearing a light-blue hoodie and dark-colored pants at the time of the incident.
The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a gray Ford Ranger truck and traveled in the direction of Richland County via Church Street, Foster said. It is likely the vehicle had a manual transmission from the information provided by witnesses.
Foster said investigators are still at the scene and are not prepared to release what was stolen during the robbery.
If anyone has information regarding the incident, they are urged to call the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 321-2222, or Crimestoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
