Work is nearing completion on one of the buildings going up alongside Columbia’s new baseball park in downtown’s Bull Street neighborhood.

The 143,000-square-foot building will sit along the first base line of the 8,000-seat, $37 million Spirit Communications Park. The park will be home to the Columbia Fireflies, a new Class A minor league baseball team, and the centerpiece of what is planned as a massive new development at the old campus of the S.C. Department of Mental Health.
