Sheriff: Suspects stole from victim who helped others during October flood
Richland County deputies are requesting the community’s assistance in locating two suspects that stole a victim’s wallet from his vehicle while the victim was helping those in need during the October flood.
Sheriff Leon Lott said that the victim was assisting others in the 6000 block of North Ridge Road, off Gill Creek Road, who affected by the flood on Oct. 5, when the two suspects entered his unattended vehicle and stole his wallet and other personal items.
Lott said the suspects then went to several locations on Decker Boulevard and Percival Road to purchase items with the victim’s credit cards. The suspects spent an estimated $400 of the victim’s money.
The first suspect is described as a black male in his early to mid 20s, Lott said. He was depicted as wearing a white shirt and black pants in one surveillance video camera’s footage. The second suspect is a black female in her early to mid-20s. She too was wearing a white shirt and black pants.
Anyone with information regarding the identity and whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
