Columbia police charged an Uber driver after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a cab driver from another company during an argument in Five Points early Friday morning.

Police officials said 45-year-old Anthony Vereen Barini has been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm in connection with the incident.

Officials said a Columbia officer was flagged down in the 700 block of Saluda Avenue at 1:30 a.m. by the victim, who said Barini became agitated when he was asked to move his vehicle from a designated Checker Yellow Taxi parking space.

After several requests to remove his vehicle, Barini pulled out a handgun, racked the slide and pointed the weapon at the victim, officials said.

Officials said the victim fled the scene and located an officer. The victim was not physically harmed during the incident.

Barini later was interviewed by officers, charged and taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
