Three killed on S.C. roadways over the weekend
South Carolina Department of Public Safety officials said there were three road deaths reported over the weekend.
Officials said two of the deaths occurred on U.S. routes, S.C. roads and secondary roads, while the other death occurred on an interstate.
In two of the deaths, officials said a seat belt was not used. The other death was a involved a motorcycle in which a seat belt is not used.
As of Feb. 21, 106 people have died on state highways, compared to 129 highways deaths during the same time period in 2015. Of the 77 motor-vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 41 were not wearing seat belts.
Fourteen pedestrians have been killed compared to 21 during the same time period in 2015. Seven motorcyclist have been killed compared to nine in 2015. Four bicyclists have died in 2016 compared to two this time in 2015.
