Suspect in custody following robbery at Newberry bank

One suspect is in custody after an attempted bank robbery in Newberry Monday afternoon, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Officials have not yet released the name of the suspect, but they said an attempted robbery took place at the BB&T on the corner of Wilson Road and Kinard Street. The incident forced several area businesses to go on lock down, but have since resumed normal operations.

Officials said they believe that no other suspects were involved with the incident.
