School districts begin canceling after-school programs due to weather

Several school districts around the Midlands have started canceling after-school programs and activities Wednesday afternoon as inclement weather moves into the Midlands.

So far, the school districts that have canceled after-school programs include:

▪  Orangeburg County School District 5

▪  Lexington-Richland School District 5

▪  Lexington School District 1

▪  Glenforest School

A tornado watch has been issued for the Midlands and will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday, weather officials said. As a cold front moves through the region, severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes could possibly form.
