Richland County coroner identifies victim of fatal collision on Bluff Road

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim who was killed following a single-vehicle collision on Bluff Road near Gadsden early Thursday morning.

Coroner Gary Watts said 63-year-old Robert Evans, of Columbia, died after sustaining blunt force trauma during the wreck.

Watts said Evans was traveling in the 8300 block of Bluff Road, where road repairs are ongoing from the October floods, when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned. Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said Evans was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
