Richland County deputies charge man with domestic violence

Richland County deputies charged a man Thursday evening with domestic violence after he beat a female victim in the head, officials said.

Lt. Curtis Wilson, a department spokesman, said deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 7100 block of Parklane Road, near Oneil Court, in reference to an assault just before 12 a.m.

When deputies arrived, Wilson said they located a female victim who had been struck several times in the upper body. The victim suffered injuries to the head and was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Wilson said 38-year-old Darrien Grant was charged with criminal domestic violence in connection with the beating. He was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he will remain until a bond hearing.
