Lexington County deputies searching for suspects using counterfeit bills

Lexington County deputies are requesting the community’s assistance in identifying and locating three suspects who allegedly attempted to pass counterfeit $100 bills at a Dollar General in Batesburg-Leesville.

Sheriff Jay Koon said two of the suspects entered the Dollar General on Pond Branch Road in Batesburg-Leesville on Saturday and used nine counterfeit $100 bills as payment. A third suspect attempted to use counterfeit bills as well, but the store’s employees denied the payment.

All three suspects then entered a four-door car and left the store, Koon said.

Koon said investigators believe the same three suspects also passed $900 in counterfeit $100 bills to buy pre-paid credit cards at the Dollar General on Edmund Highway the same day.

If anyone has information regarding the suspects’ identity or whereabouts, they are asked to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-2400, or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
