Coroner identifies man who died in Friday crash

The Richland County Coroner released the name of the man who died following a two-vehicle collision Friday.

Columbia’s Erik Griffin, 24, died in surgery, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts. Griffin was involved in a two-vehicle collision at approximately 3 p.m. on Friday at 2406 Decker Boulevard, near Richland School District Two, said Watts, adding Griffin was taken to an area hospital where he died while in surgery at 7:30 p.m.

The City of Forest Acres Police Department and the SC Highway Patrol MAIT Team are investigating the incident.
