Harvest Hope Food Bank is celebrating 35 years of service in the Midlands on Friday during its 35th anniversary gala.

The event starting at 6 p.m. Friday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center includes an auction, a surprise celebrity emcee and concert by Blues Traveler. The gala will celebrate Harvest Hope’s response to the October storm in which the food bank officials say more than 2 million meals were served across the state in six weeks.

Gov. Nikki Haley, who volunteered at Harvest Hope after the flooding, will be presented with the Michael J. Mungo Humanitarian Award.
