No footage or witnesses to shots fired at Columbiana Centre, police say
Investigators have reviewed security footage but have not found any that reflected reports of shots being fired inside Columbiana Centre on Feb. 20, a Columbia Police Department spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Many people interviewed by police reported hearing gunfire, but no witnesses have come forward to say they actually saw a shooting, spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.
Witnesses told authorities that “two people pulled guns and fired into the air” after a fistfight outside Kay Jewelers inside the mall, Chief Skip Holbrook said.
Reports of the shooting caused panic and a mass evacuation of the Harbison-area shopping center late that evening. Police continue to investigate.
