Richland County Library officials will celebrate the start of building a new Ballentine branch Wednesday.

Plans call for a new 13,000-square-foot facility on a 7-acre site that will replace the current storefront library.

The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the site, 1200 Dutch Fork Road.

Those attending the event should park in the nearby shopping center anchored by Wal-Mart and take a shuttle to the site.

The new library is part of a $59 million package of projects approved by voters.
