Charges dropped against man previously accused of assaulting woman near Forest Drive
Editor’s note: The charges against Denaro Ponds have been dropped, according to court records.
A man was charged burglary and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggrevated nature after deputies say he broke into a woman’s home early Monday morning.
Deputies captured Denaro Ponds, 37, after he fled the scene, according to Lt. Curtis Wilson, spokesman for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occured in the 400 block of Percival Road, not far from Forest Drive. Ponds tried to talk to the victim, and when she didn’t want to communicate with him, he broke into the home and assaulted her, Wilson said.
Ponds fled after the victim was able to grab a weapon, Wilson said. Deputies on patrol captured Ponds later that morning. He was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
