Two suspects didn’t get very far with a stolen car Easter afternoon before Columbia police caught up with them.

Trenton J. Portee, 21, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to the Columbia Police Department. Sadie Moultrie, 53, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and driving under suspension.

An officer on patrol on North Main Street was typing up a report for a stolen vehicle at about 3 p.m. when he spotted the vehicle driving by, police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said. The officer stopped the vehicle and found Moultrie and Portee inside, along with a stolen handgun.

Both suspects were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
