Columbia resident died in Easter car wreck
Authorities released the name of a passenger who died in a single-vehicle wreck Easter morning.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Janikque N. Keitt, 30, of Smallwood Road in Columbia died from injuries sustained in a car crash.
Highway Patrol reported Tremaine Germany-Byrd, 25, was driving a 2007 Toyota about 9:20 a.m. Sunday southbound on Interstate 77 around mile marker 5 when he drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. He then went off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and then a bridge.
Keitt was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.
Germany-Byrd was transported to Palmetto Health Richland for non-life threatening injuries.
Both the passenger and driver were wearing seat belts.
Troopers continue to investigate.
