Richland County sheriff invites citizens to summit

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department aims to keep citizens up to date on crime trends at an upcoming summit Saturday morning.

The gathering will run from 9 a.m. to noon at The Medallion Conference Center at 7309 Garners Ferry Road, according to a news release.

Sheriff Leon Lott will address the following topics:

• Comparison’s of the president’s task force’s recommendations to the sheriff’s department’s policing
• The 6 pillars of 21^st century policing
• Community and professional development programs
• The sheriff’s strategic plan for the department

Lott will also compare Richland County crime trends to those seen nationally, and will discuss the forecast for 2016.
