Hey, you, looking for something to do with your Saturday! The Columbia area is hosting a busy weekend of music, art, horses and trashy fashion.

Take your pick:

Tartan Day South: Party like a Celt at this weekend-long, plaid-clad celebration. Enjoy music, food, exhibitions and sports.

Start your celebratin’ Friday night at 6 p.m., then come back when the gates open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Historic Columbia Speedway, 2001 Charleston Highway, Cayce. Come Sunday for the Kirkin’ of the Tartans at 11 a.m. at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater.

Carolina Cup steeplechase: Get your giddyup on at Camden’s annual spring horse racing event. If horses aren’t your thing, put on a floppy hat, pour a “Carolina julep” and have a good time anyway.

Gates open at 9 a.m. The first race starts at 1:30 p.m., at Springdale Racecourse, 200 Knights Hill Road, Camden.

Open Studios art tour: Get inspired by 70 of the Midlands’ most creative minds as you tour their working studios throughout Columbia, Richland and Lexington counties.

It’s free to tour them on your own from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Find a guide to studio locations at www.701cca.org.

Touch A Truck: Whether you’re a little kid or a grown-up kid, there’s something exciting about getting close to a big rig. Explore exhibits including firetrucks, bulldozers and antique military vehicles at this seventh annual event. Admission is $6 per person or $20 for a family four-pack.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the State Farmers Market, 3483 Charleston Highway, West Columbia

Freeway Music Festival: Hip-hop, blues, folk, ragtime, indie pop, electric rock, “new wave dance-rock with a pizza obsession” – if you can’t find something you like in this musical lineup, well, open your mind and give it a try, why don’t ya? Tickets are $5 for children, $25 general admission and $99 for VIP access.

Rock out all day starting at noon at Music Farm Columbia, 1022 Senate St., Columbia.

Runaway Runway design competition and fashion show: You can feel trashy and classy at the same time as you watch repurposed materials take the runway as unique fashion pieces in this fundraiser fashion show.

Tickets are $50 for runway seats and $15 for general admission.

The trashing of the runway begins at 8 p.m. at the Columbia Museum of Art, 1515 Main St., Columbia.
