Beach opens anew at Lake Murray
Rain didn’t delay the annual re-opening Friday of the only public beach on Lake Murray.
The beach on the south side of the dam will be available daily for swimming and picnicking through Sept. 9. No lifeguards are on duty. Admission is $3 per car.
The boat launch ramp on the north side of the dam is open through Sept. 5.
Both sites are managed by South Carolina Electric & Gas. Co, the Cayce-based utility that oversees the 47,500-acre lake created in 1930 for hydropower.
