Fireflies’ ‘Swing for your Seats’ postponed to Sunday
Rain caused Saturday’s “Swing for your Seats” event at Columbia’s Spirit Communications Park to be postponed until Sunday.
Swing for Your Seats now will be part of Fireflies Fan Fest.
Fireflies Fan Fest, scheduled for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, will offer fans a up-close look at the park as well as the 2016 Fireflies baseball team’s first workout.
The event is free, and the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks.
Ballpark tours will take place throughout the afternoon. Fireflies players and coaches will be signing autographs on the ballpark concourse from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The team’s workout is scheduled to finish at about 3:45 p.m.
With Swing for Your Seats, any fan who places a 25 percent deposit on season tickets or another ticket package – or adds seats to their current plan – will be invited down to the field at 4 p.m. and have the opportunity to bat from home plate. If the participant hits a home run, he or she will receive their ticket package that year for free, up to $10,000.
Ticket packages include full season (70 games), half season (35 games), quarter season (17 games) and mini season (12 games) options. The non-refundable deposit will be 25 percent of the ticket package fans intend to purchase.

NEXT SUNDAY: NIGHT OF JOY
First Baptist Church of Columbia and Brookland Baptist Church will combine choirs, orchestras and congregations on Sunday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. for Night of Joy, an inaugural non-baseball event at the new Spirit Communications Park on Bull Street.
Joining these churches will be Village Church and The New Laurel Street Missionary Baptist Church. The concert will also feature song selections from combined children’s choirs from all four churches as well as the Brookland Baptist Men’s Choir, the Capital City Chorale and the Praise Band from Village Church.
The event is free.
