Planned sewer line work to disrupt Huger Street traffic

Both southbound lanes of Huger Street in a stretch of downtown will be closed to traffic from Friday morning through Monday night, public works officials announced Tuesday.

The closure of southbound Huger Street from Gervais Street to College Street is to allow for maintenance and repair work to Columbia’s sewer system in the area, the Columbia Wastewater Maintenance Division said in a news release.

The following alternate routes were suggested for those who must travel in the area:

o East on Gervais Street to Lincoln Street or Assembly Street

o East on Hampton Street to Lincoln Street or Assemby Street
