Weed-y yards have more time to clean up in Richland County

Richland County is now giving residents more time to gets weeds and other rank vegetation under control before they are given citations.

The county’s updated “yard ordinance” allows property owners 30 days, instead of 10, to comply with notices served by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

And properties considered nuisances will now have 30 days, instead of 20, before the county can take steps to clean the property and seek reimbursement for the cost.
