Home destroyed in Lexington County fire

A fire in Gaston displaced two residents and caused about $200,000 in damage to their home Sunday night.

Lexington County firefighters and paramedics responded to the 100 block of Shawnmoor Lane at about 10 p.m., according to a news release. They found the residence engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but the home was a total loss, according to the release. A neighboring home also was damaged by the heat. No one was injured during the incident.

Officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross has been called in to assist the displaced residents.
