Seven killed on S.C. roadways over the weekend
South Carolina Department of Public Safety officials said there were seven road deaths reported over the weekend.
Officials said all seven occurred on U.S. routes, S.C. roads and secondary roads.
In three of the deaths, officials said a seat belt was used, while two others did not use a seat belt. Two of those killed were motorcyclists not wearing helmets,
As of Monday, 236 people have died on state highways, compared to 256 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015. Of the 165 motor-vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 79 were not wearing seat belts.
Thirty-two pedestrians have been killed compared to 34 during the same time period in 2015. Twenty-five motorcyclists have been killed compared to 23 in 2015. Eight bicyclists have died in 2016 compared to seven this time in 2015.
