Lexington County poll on services starting

Lexington County residents can sound off soon on which services should be emphasized amid steady growth that’s straining finances.

Postcards outlining how to take part in the poll are being mailed to 170,000 registered voters. But the survey is open to all residents.

The poll begins Wednesday and ends May 8.

Residents can participate online at www.lexcocommsurvey.com. Survey forms also are available at the county administration building, 212 S. Lake Dr., Lexington. A telephone poll also will be conducted.

The $71,750 poll is similar to customer satisfaction surveys taken for businesses, but it’s a first for county officials.

Safeguards are in place to protect anonymity of respondents and to insure no one can improperly influence the outcome, officials say.
