Don’t flash the cops, and leave the Uber driver alone

One man learned the hard way that flashing cops and bothering Uber drivers is a bad idea.

The man, identified in the incident report as Le Guelaff, was charged with public disorderly conduct April 5.

Officers with the University of South Carolina Police Department responded to a fight at the intersection of Laurens and Greene streets between 2 and 3 a.m. No one involved wanted to press charges, according to the incident report.

One person left the scene, while four others stayed on the sidewalk near where the fight had happened. Le Guelaff then took his shirt off, posed for pictures with the cop car, and exclaimed that he couldn’t get arrested, according to the incident report.

Later, the group left the scene and went east on Greene Street, where they entered a car with an Uber sign on the roof.

The Uber driver began to honk her car horn and then exited the car and waved at the USC officers, according to the report. She told law enforcement that she had asked the group to leave her car, and in response, Le Guelaff threw her coffee cup, cellphone and pens out of the vehicle.

One member of the group, identified as Glover, then made an obscene sexual comment to the driver, while another member – identified in the report as Dempster – cursed at her and asked her if she was from Korea, the driver told police.

After an EMT examined Le Guelaff to make sure he was not a danger to himself or others, police took the suspect to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
