Lantern parade a highlight of Artista Vista
A lantern parade through the Vista was a shining highlight of Thursday’s Artista Vista, Columbia’s oldest and most celebrated gallery crawl.
The lanterns were made by artist-in-residence Janke Klompmaker as part of 701 Center for Contemporary Art’s current exhibition, “Dadadesque.” Some folks carried lanterns, but others brought drums, horns, tambourines, flutes, whistles and other noise makers to create a soundtrack for the parade.
The Vista also unveiled a new piece of public art, Ascending Form 2001, by Columbia artist Mike Williams, near the new Twisted Spur Brewery.
Artista Vista continues through Saturday.
