16-year-old charged with carjacking after driving car to work

A woman’s stolen car was found Friday after the alleged carjacker drove it to work, Richland County Sheriff’s deputies say.

The victim had stepped inside a Spinx gas station on Lee Road in northeast Richland County around 4:30 p.m. Friday, deputies say, when the suspect jumped inside her car. The woman came outside and tried to get control of her vehicle, but she was struck by the car door and dragged a short way. She was not harmed, deputies say.

The suspect was wearing a fast-food restaurant uniform, and deputies patrolling the area found him as he arrived for work that evening.

Tony Allen, 16, was arrested and charged with carjacking.
