Columbia firefighters extinguish blaze on Shop Road

Firefighters responded to an incident involving two vehicle fires off Shop Road in Columbia shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to the vehicles, some grass also caught fire. No one was injured, Columbia Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said.

The fires were behind an equipment facility, just up the street from a S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles office.

The fire was under control a short time later, Lewis said.
