City of West Columbia creates internet purchase exchange zone

The City of West Columbia has created an Internet Purchase Exchange Zone for members of the public to use as a meeting place to exchange goods purchased on the internet.

Located in the City of West Columbia parking lot at 200 N. 12th Street, the exchange location is available for exchanges from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The spot was chosen for its convenient location and is under video monitoring.

Mayor Bobby Horton and the West Columbia City Council identified it as an opportunity to help citizens while finalizing transactions that began online.

“West Columbia is pleased to provide a meeting place for those citizens needing a safe place for internet related transactions,” Mayor Horton said in a statement. “We encourage folks to use their best judgment and stay safe. As always, if something doesn’t feel right, people are encouraged to call our police department immediately.”
