Public meeting for Atlas Road widening to be held Thursday

Residents can learn more about plans to widen Atlas Road and share their opinions on the project at a public meeting Thursday.

The Richland County Transportation Penny program will present the proposed plans to widen the road between Bluff and Garners Ferry roads from 5:30to 7 p.m. Thursday at the A.C. Jackson Wellness Center, 2508 Atlas Road, Columbia.

Informational displays will show the proposed plans, which include widening the road to three lanes between Bluff and Shop roads and to five lanes between Shop and Garners Ferry. The plans also include accommodations for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Residents can leave comments at the meeting. Written comments can also be submitted to the Richland Penny Program at 201 Arbor Lake Dr., Columbia, emailed to info@richlandpenny.com or faxed to (803) 779-4562.
