Watch out: Saturday’s going to be another hot one for April

Friday’s high of 91 was the highest temperature so far this year in the Columbia area, with highs of 90 expected on Saturday and Monday as well.

The average high for April 29 is 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The 91-degree reading was reached in downtown Columbia.

Saturday’s temps will give a summery zing to large outdoor events in Columbia, including the the Sparkleberry Fair in Northeast Richland, the Mud Run in Sandy Run and the S.C. Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival at the state fairgrounds.

Saturday and Monday could see a thunderstorm, which might cool things off for a while.

Sunday’s high is expected to reach 86, with a 50 percent chance of showers, according to the National Weather Service.
