Richland deputies find two injured after responding to report of gunshots

Richland County deputies say they found two people with gunshot wounds after responding to a shots fired call Sunday at 2 a.m.

The report of gunfire was at the 700 block of Zimalcrest Drive, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies did not find any victims at that location, but did see signs of an incident.

Deputies later saw two vehicles speeding on Broad River Road, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said. Officers followed the vehicles to Palmetto Health Richland.

One person was shot in the lower body, while the other person was shot in the upper body, Wilson said. Investigators determined that before the shooting, there was an argument – involving security – at a nightclub in Lexington County.

The sheriff’s department continues to investigate.
