Fire destroys home in northwest Richland County

A fire on Monday destroyed a two-story home in the 3200 block of Kennerly Road in northwest Richland County, but the family of three who lived there escaped.

The fire started approximately 2 p.m. Monday, Columbia Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said. The 4,000-square-foot home was destroyed when firefighters arrived, he said.

The Richland County Fire Marshal’s office will investigate the cause of the fire, he said.
