Armed robbery suspect hospitalized after car chase

One person suspected of armed robbery was hospitalized after a car chase with Richland County deputies late Monday night.

Deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery on Longcreek Drive at 11 p.m., according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Three people tried to rob the victim of his belongings, then fled in a Ford Focus, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said.

Officers found the vehicle on Monticello Road, where a chase ensued, Wilson said. The driver of the Ford Focus lost control of the vehicle and was taken to Palmetto Health Richland.

The other two suspects fled, Wilson said.
