Man charged with assault at Columbia strip club

Richland County deputies charged a man with assaulting two employees at Platinum Plus early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at 1:30 a.m., according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. John Algar, 22, was charged with two counts of assault and battery.

Algar assaulted two of the club’s employees, then tried to flee in a vehicle, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said. Deputies were able to stop him.

He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
