Pedestrian killed in crash on Shop Road in Columbia
One person is dead after a crash on Shop Road in Columbia on Tuesday night.
A vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing Shop Road from Bates Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. That location is about a half mile from the Shop Road Department of Motor Vehicles office.
The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured, officials said.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim Wednesday as Alexander Huff, 70. Huff was taken to Palmetto Health Richland, but died Wednesday at about 3 a.m. from blunt force trauma to the upper body.
This collision is still under investigation by Highway Patrol.
