UPDATE: Man dies when boat capsizes on private pond in Gilbert

The Lexington County coroner’s office reported Saturday night that 52-year-old Mark A. Taylor of Gilbert died in a boating accident earlier in the day on a private pond in Gilbert

Coroner Margaret Fisher said Taylor is believed to have drowned around 9 a.m. when his boat capsized on the pond on the 1200 block of Windy Road. An autopsy will be conducted on Sunday to determine the cause of death, Fisher said.

Taylor was not wearing a life vest at the time of the accident, Fisher said. The SC Department of Natural Resources and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the death.
