Richland County Council District 10 primary is Tuesday

The special primary election for the District 10 Richland County Council seat will be held Tuesday.

Polls in the district open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Kelvin Washington represented the district until he was removed from office for failing to file income tax returns for three years. Competing to temporarily fill his seat are Helen Taylor Bradley, Mary Kirkland Jackson, Jerome Marvin Miller, Dalhi Myers and Bernice Scott.

If no candidate receives more than half of the votes, the top two candidates will be on a runoff ballot June 14.

The district covers most of Lower Richland, including Hopkins, Gadsden and Eastover.
