Irmo gets OK to eject Town Council member
Irmo officials remained uncertain Friday about how to proceed after receiving a cautious go-ahead allowing ejection of a Town Council member considered unruly.
“We’re not 100% sure what is the right way to go about this,” Mayor Hardy King said.
The uncertainty comes after the state Attorney General’s office changed its mind and said ejection is permissible. But the opinion emphasized “the need for considerable caution” so the move is not used to stifle disagreement.
The look at ejection follows Councilman Barry Walker’s frequent squabbles with other town leaders at meetings, conduct they consider disruptive.
