Clemson Road widening details to be released at penny tax meeting Thursday

Details are to be released this week on the plan to widen parts of Clemson Road, one of the road improvement projects paid for by the Richland County penny sales tax for transportation.

Also this week, another project in Northeast Richland is wrapping up, while a third, in St. Andrews, is set to begin on Monday.

BROAD RIVER-RUSHMORE ROADS INTERSECTION

Construction at the intersection of Broad River Road and Rushmore Road in St. Andrews is scheduled to begin Monday and last at least through the end of July. Improvements at the intersection include a new right turn lane on Rushmore Road and replacing the existing traffic signal.

Motorists traveling through this construction area are asked to be mindful of equipment and crews and be prepared for delays. Alternative routes are recommended, if possible. Project updates are provided monthly on the Richland Penny website.

CLEMSON ROAD WIDENING

Richland County Transportation Department will host a public meeting this week to review proposed plans for the Clemson Road widening project.

The meeting is being held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Spring Valley High School cafeteria, 120 Sparkleberry Lane.

Penny program officials will make a brief presentation at 6 p.m.

Residents can leave written comments with officials. Any resident wishing to speak needs to sign up before the presentation begins. Comments will be limited to two minutes.

Written comments can be submitted to Richland Penny Program, 201 Arbor Lake Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29223, emailed to info@richlandpenny.com or faxed to (803) 779-4562.

SUMMIT PARKWAY-SUMMIT RIDGE DRIVE

Construction should be wrapping up on the Summit Parkway and Summit Ridge Drive intersection project in Northeast Richland.

Enhancements include a new right turn lane on Summit Parkway, a second left turn lane on Summit Ridge Drive and a replacement of the existing traffic signal.

Weather might have caused some delays.
