SCE&G gives 6,400 pounds of food to Harvest Hope
COLUMBIA, SC SCE&G employees will deliver 6,400 pounds of food Monday to Harvest Hope Food Bank to help the hungry through the summer.
Two trailers will take the food to the non-profit organization’s distribution center at 2220 Shop Road at 10 a.m., the utility company said Friday in a news release.
Children who are eligible for free or reduced price lunches get at least one hot meal during the school year, South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. officials said. But when school is out, many of those children rely on food banks, according to the company’s statement.
The utility has donated $153,000 to Harvest Hope since 2014, the company said.
