Sumter Cardiology closing its doors

Sumter Cardiology has announced to patients it will shut its doors effective July 29 and reopen at Lexington Cardiology effective Aug. 1.

Dr. Mitchell Jacocks sent the letter this week and advised patients that not only will he be leaving Sumter, but Dr. West Jacocks will also be leaving within a few months and will no longer practice with Lexington Medical Center.

Lexington Cardiology has an office in Columbia.

The letter states patients scheduled with doctors through July 29 will not need to change appointments. For appointments scheduled after July 29, Lexington Cardiology will contact patients to confirm the time and location of the appointment. Medical records will transfer with patients to Lexington Cardiology.

Patients of Dr. West Jacocks will be contacted about how to transfer their care to another provider, the letter states.
