Spotted walking down street with TV on back, 2 men charged with burglary
Walking down the street carrying a 42-inch TV on your back might be viewed as suspicious.
That’s how it struck a Camden resident who viewed such a scene at 6:45 a.m. Thursday. Kershaw County deputies, dispatched to Hasty Road and Haile Street to check it out, spotted two men, one carrying a TV, the other riding along side on a bike. When the bike rider tried to flee, both men were taken into custody, sheriff Jim Matthews said in a news release.
Investigators discovered a stash of stolen goods and a canoe, also stolen, near the shoreline of Lake Kendall, Matthews said.
The two men, David James Link, 24, and Cameron Russell Griffin, 17, were charged with burglary (2nd degree) and petit larceny.
Link and Griffin are accused of loading stolen items into the canoe and rowing across Kendall Lake where the items were hidden for later retrieval.
They were being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center Thursday afternoon.
