Poké-hunters urged to use caution, not break the law

Across the county, as the Pokémon Go craze speads so do reports of players being victimized by criminals, getting in accidents, trespassing, being bitten by a venemous snake, or even falling off a cliff while Poké-hunting.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department wants game players to stay safe and has issued safety tips for poke-hunters:

. Never go out alone- always have a partner with you.

. Let someone know the location(s) that you are going to.

. Pay attention to your environment at all times and watch where you’re going

. Pay attention to oncoming traffic

. Limit the valuables you carry with you.

. Stay in public places and well-lit areas.

. Do not play while you’re driving

. Do not trespass on to private Property

Remember, not everyone has embraced Pokémon Go.

In Palm Coast, Florida, a man fired shots at two late-night Poké-hunters parked in a car outside his house.
