Lexington County sets up flood aid meeting for residents
Lexington County officials will outline plans for residents at a meeting Thursdayto discuss the use of $16.3 million in federal flood aid.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Seven Oaks Park in St. Andrews.
Aid is available for some of the nearly 400 homes across the 758-square mile county damaged by floods after record rain in October.
Most of the damage was in four neighborhoods on the north side of Lake Murray – Challedon, Coldstream, Pine Glen and Whitehall.
Plans tentatively call for acquisition and demolition of 30 homes in flood-prone sections along Kinley Creek in Challedon and repairs to 101 others.
In addition, county officials are looking at drainage improvements and road repairs.
