Funeral arrangements set for River Bluff student, player Lewis Simpkins

Funeral services for Lewis Simpkins, the River Bluff High School sophomore who died after collapsing during football practice Wednesday, have been scheduled for Monday.

The 1 p.m. service will be held at Word of God Church and Ministries Columbia, at 119 Diamond Lane in Columbia.

Visitation will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home’s Lexington Chapel, at 503 N. Lake Drive.

Simpkins’ preliminary autopsy report was inconclusive, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Additional tests are underway to determine what caused his death.
