A Camden teenager is behind bars after a victim who was shot it the back identified him as the shooter, according to officials.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting Aug. 21 at Kings Avenue and Old River Road in Camden, according to a news release from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department.

When they arrived, they found Sean Major of Camden with gunshot wounds to his back from a 9mm handgun, the release stated.

Major was transported to Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, where he underwent surgery and was treated for about a week before he was released, according to officials.

Investigators conducted interviews with Major, who identified Liquel Bryant Robinson, 19, as the shooter. He reported to deputies that he owed Robinson drug money and was shot because of it.

“This entire incident challenges the popular notion that drug dealing is not a violent crime when it is quite obvious that it leads to violence on a daily basis, as in this case,” Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said.

Robinson, whose most recent address is on Red Hill Road in Camden, was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder.

The sheriff’s office reported he has previous arrests for drug, traffic and perjury charges.

He was booked into the Kershaw County Detention Center, where his bond request was denied.
