Stolen ID used to open fake credit card accounts to buy TVs and furniture

Richland County authorities are looking for three men who allegedly used the victim’s ID to open store credit accounts and make an estimated $11,000 in fraudulent purchases. When the victim got credit invoices in the mail, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department was informed, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.

The three suspects bought televisions and furniture during three shopping sprees between August 15 and August 20th.

On August 15, approximately $3,000 was charged at Value City Furniture located at 201 Columbia Mall Road. On August 17, about $3,000 worth of merchandise was charged at Target at 10204 Two Notch Road. On August 20, an estimated $5,000 worth of furniture was charged at White-Ash Furniture located at 919 Gervais St.
